October 20th 2014 CGFD Responds To Pompton Ave. Fire

Cedar Grove Firefighters responded to the scene of a structure fire at the former La-Z-Boy Furniture Store 675 Pompton Ave. Workers there were demolishing the building when sparks from the saw work set a large pile of roofing material inside the building on fire. The building department and NJ Division of Fire Safety responded to the scene. No injuries were reported.

October 12th 2014 CGFD Responds to Activated CO Alarm

Cedar Grove Police and Fire responded on an activated carbon monoxide alarm. Firefighter checked the residence with celebrated gas meters. The alarm was investigated and found to be a false alarm caused by a low battery.

September 14th 2014 CGFD Responds To Anderson Parkway

Cedar Grove Firefighter responded to a Anderson Parkway residence on a reported house fire. Upon arrival a neighbor had extinguished the fire and the first arriving police officers had moved the residents out of the house. Firefighters check for fire extension and removed the smoke. No injuries were reported.

2014 September 11th Memorial Service

Cedar Grove Township Observes The 13th Anniversary of The September 11th Attacks. Cedar Grove lost two residents in the attacks. Cedar Grove Fire Department sent units to assist New York City during the aftermath of the event.

September 11th 2014 CGFD Responds to Oven Fire

Cedar Grove Firefighters respond to an Alicia Court residence of the report of a oven fire. Upon arrival firefighter found a smoke condition in the house. The fire had been extinguished by the first arriving police officers. The fire department checked for fire extension, none was found and removed the smoke. No injuries were reported.

CGFD Responds to The New Essex County Public Works Building

Cedar Grove Firefighters responded to the new Essex County Public Works Garage, 99 West Bradford Avenue, on the activated fire alarm. The alarm was an a false alarm. The new building is slatted to be dedicated tomorrow Wednesday 9-3-2014. This is the second such alarm in the last two days.

August 11th 2014 CGFD Responds to Single Vehicle Crash

Cedar Grove Firefighters responded to the scene of a motor vehicle crash on Little Falls Road near Bortic Road. Upon arrival firefighters found the vehicle on its side and the driver outside of the vehicle. Firefighters cleaned up some debris and assisted righting the vehicle back over. Cedar Grove Police are investigating the cause.
