Cedar Grove Fire Departments Center Fire Company #1 Wins Tri-State Chili Contest

Cedar Grove’s Center Fire Company #1 submitted its entry, Wilson Magic, against all others around the tri-state area to CBS RADIO New York’s Firehouse Chili Cook-Off Contest. In the semifinals Center Fire Company competed against other local New Jersey firehouses to see whose chili recipe reigns supreme.  On December 15th 2014 Center Fire Company won at Millers Ale House in Paramus New Jersey. Firefighter and Chef Tom Wilsons Magic Chili was tasted and judged by local sports figures judges, which include former New York Giant and CBS Sports Radio host, as well as former NFL punter Sean Landeta.  Center Fire Company moved into the final round earning the right to compete in the finals at Suit 36 New York City January 12th 2014.  In the finals, once again Chef Tom Wilsons batch of crowd pleasing magic chili won over the packed house wining the popular vote after the judges score ended in a nail biting tie.  

Congratulations to Chef Tom Wilson and Members of Cedar Grove Fire Departments Center Fire Company #1  who were recognized as the Best Firehouse Chili at the final round on Sunday, Jan. 12 at Suite 36 in New York City.

January 6th 2014 James Zaccaria Sworn As Fire Chief

James Zaccaria was sworn in as Chief Of The Cedar Grove Department. Mayor Robert O'Toole administered the oath at the the January 6th 2014 Cedar Grove Township Council Meeting. Chief Zaccaria has previously served as South End Fire Company #3 Lieutenant, Captain, and Deputy Chief.

Attention CG Residents!!

Santa Claus is coming to town courtesy of the CG Fire Department this Sunday 12/22/13. NE Fire Company will start hitting all streets from Fairview Ave and North to the Little Falls border starting at 10am. SE Fire Company will be hitting the streets also starting at 10am from Bradford Ave and South to the Verona Border. Center Company will have various stops throughout the center of town….so look for those signs posted on the telephone poles in that area. List of those stops will be posted soon as well

CBS RADIO NEW YORK HOSTS FIREHOUSE CHILI COOK-OFF CONTEST

TO FIND THE BEST LOCAL CHILI

 

Firehouses Representing The Tri-State Area Compete For Bragging Rights And

Premium Tickets To A New York Yankees Game

 

After entries were submitted from all across the tri-state area, semi-finalists in CBS RADIO New York’s Firehouse Chili Cook-Off will compete to see whose chili recipe reigns supreme.

Semi-finals will be held on football Sundays on Dec. 8, at Miller’s Ale House in Levittown, NY; Dec. 15, at Miller’s Ale House in Paramus, NJ; and Jan. 5 at Break Bar & Billiards in Long Island City, N.Y. Each semi-finalist will receive a $500 donation to their charity of choice.

The winning firehouse from each event will compete in the final round, on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 at Suite 36 in New York City (16 West 36th St.), where the ultimate Firehouse Chili Cook-Off winner will be crowned.  The grand prize winning firehouse will receive VIP tickets to a 2014 New York Yankees game at Yankee Stadium.

December 15th 2013 Semi Finals Results

Center Fire Company, Fire House Chef Tom Wilson mixed up a big batch of his "Magic Chili". It's a fire house favorite and took first place over, Little Falls Fire Departments Engine Company #2, Paramus Fire Departments Company #2 and North Hudson Regional Fire & Rescue, 43rd Street Firehouse. Center Fire Company moves on to the final round. Center Company dedicated the $500.00 donation to the NG Foundation, in honor of Nick Gualtieri.

November 28th 2013, A Busy Thanksgiving Day For Cedar Grove Fire Department

At 11:50 am the department responded to a Sherman Avenue residence for a small oven fire. The fire was extinguished by the resident prior to the department’s arrival. No injuries were reported.

At 10:44 pm the department responded to an Overlook Road address for a reported house fire. The homeowner had called 911 reporting a smoke condition in the house. When police and fire personnel arrived fire was found in several of the homes walls. Firefighters worked for over an hour to locate and extinguish all the fires. There was smoke, heat, and water damage throughout  the residence. No injuries were reported. North Caldwell, Verona, and West Caldwell fire department’s assisted.

November 20th, 2013 CGFD Responds Mutual Aid To Irving St. Montclair

Cedar Grove Firefighters assisted at a three-alarm fire that ripped through an Irving Street basement apartment and spread to the first floor early Wednesday morning. Montclair Fire Department reports the blaze erupted at about 4:30 a.m. in a two-and-a-half story home at 39 Irving Street. No residents were injured they had got themselves out of the house. About 30 firefighters fought the blaze and got it under control under an hour receiving help from West Orange, Cedar Grove and Clifton.

November 18th, 2013 CGFD Responds Mutual Aid To Orange Rd. Montclair

Cedar Grove Firefighters assisted Montclair Fire Department at the scene of a house fire. Officials reported the two-alarm fire burned for hours through a three-story house at 231 Orange Road Monday night, damaging the structure's walls, stairs and floors. No residents were hurt in the blaze, which began at about 8:30 p.m.
