Fire Department Responds To Irvington August 18th 2013

Cedar Grove Firefighters provided coverage along with Belleville and Union Firefighters while Irvington Firefighters Battled a Four Alarm Fire that broke out at the plant located at 119 Coit Street around midnight Sunday and took firefighters about five hours to get under control. Firefighters were continuing to put out hot spots Sunday morning. No injuries were reported, but the plant, which produces plastic pellets, was completely destroyed in the fire.

Mutual Aid Response To The Borough of Woodland Park July 18th 2013

A fire began shortly before 2:30 p.m. at a two-story building at 25 Andrews Drive.  The building houses four businesses.  The fire  spread to the roof quickly. It appeared to be under control by 5 p.m. Firefighters from the borough and several surrounding municipalities responded. A number of departments were called out to assist including Cedar Grove Fire Department.

July 14th 2013 Mulch Fire 72 Village Park Road

Cedar Grove Fire Department responded to 72 Village Park Road for a small mulch fire. The fire apparently started when the mulch pile watering system stopped working. The fire was quickly extinguished.

Elevator Malfunction 398 Pompton Avenue July 13th 2013

An elevator motor malfunctioned causing a minor smoke condition and momentarily trapped a resident in the elevator car. The occupants of the elevator car were removed by facility staff prior to fire departments arrival.  The elevator was secured and the smoke vented by fire personnel.  No injuries were reported.

Cedar Grove Firefighters Respond To Large Mulch Pile Fire July 5th 2013

Cedar Grove Firefighters extinguished a deep seated fire in a large pile of mulch.  The fire occurred at Caputo's  Mulch Yard 75 Village Park Road.  Firefighters used large hose streams to penetrate deep into the mulch getting water onto the actual burning material. The cause is under investigation and no injuries were reported. Verona FD stood by at Station 1 and covered the town during the incident.
