Cedar Grove Firefighters assisted Montclair Firefighters at the scene of a large brush fire in the rear yards of Edge Cliff Road Homes. The fire was a fast moving fire traveling up the side of the mountain that borders the two towns. The fire was stopped just short of Mills Reservation near Old Quarry Road.

March 10th 2016 CGFD Battles Garbage Truck Fire
Cedar Grove Firefighters responded to the parking lot of 1425 Pompton Avenue on the report of a garbage truck on fire. Upon arrival firefighter extinguished the fire on the truck then the load of trash it dumped in the parking lot. Members of the Cedar Grove Public Works responded with a backhoe to assist. No injures were reported. The contractor removed the debris.

CGFD Responds for Vehicle Extrication January 28th 2016
Cedar Grove Firefighters along with Cedar Grove Police and Cedar Grove Ambulance and Rescue Squad responded to the scene of a motor vehicle crash. One driver was extricated. No serious injuries were reported.
CGFD Responds Mutual Aid To Irvington
On January 13th 2016 at 2 am Cedar Grove Firefighter responded to the City of Irvington for a multiple alarm fire in a row of stores with apartments above. Cedar Grove along with Nutley, Livingston, Hillside provided coverage while Irvington Firefighters battled the fire on Florence Avenue. Cedar Grove Firefighters we moved up to the scene later to assist with overhaul.
CGFD Responds to Motor Vehicle Crash
On 12-31-2015 Cedar Grove Firefighters along with police and ems responded to the scene of a motor vehicle crash. Firefighters assisted the rescue squad with patient care and cleared a minor spill.
CGFD Responds Mutual Aid To West Orange
Cedar Grove Fire Department responded to West Orange for fire house coverage while West Orange Firefighters battle a multiple alarm fire in the large 200 year old former St. Marks Episcopal Church on Main Street.
CGFD Responds Mutual Aid to Belleville
Cedar Grove Firefighters assisted the Belleville Firefighters at the scene of a Heckel Street building fire. Mutual aid was originally provided by Newark, Bloomfield, Nutley Followed up by West Orange, Montclair, North Arlington and Cedar Grove as a additional alarm. Additional coverage of Belleville was provided by Kearny, Millburn and Maplewood. The fire was deemed under control by 12:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Nov. 6th 2015 CGFD Responds To Former Essex County Hospital
Cedar Grove Firefighter responded to the grounds of the former Essex County Hospital Center on the report of a structure fire. Upon arrival firefighter found a large volume of fire on the second floor extending into the attic. The roof was ventilated handlines stretched and the fire was extinguished. The fire was brought under control quickly however due to the buildings condition firefighters remained on scene for several hours extinguishing concealed pockets of fire. Assistance was provided by Verona, Little Falls, North Caldwell, Caldwell, Montclair Fire Departments. No injuries were reported, the fire cause is under investigation.
