May 14th 2014 CGFD Responds to Water Emergency

Cedar Grove Firefighters responded to The Senior Citizens Complex 100 Cedar Ridge Drive for a water emergency inside the building. A contractor was working on a nearby hydrant when a sprinkler valve inside the building failed. The failure may have been caused by a sudden pressure surge in the system called a water hammer. Firefighters removed overhead hazards, diverted water, and conducted and salvage operations. Water service was restored to the building shortly.
