C.G.F.D Responds to Structure Fire
On 11-8-2023 at 5:47 AM Cedar Grove Firefighters were called to an Eileen Drive residence on a report of a fire. The residents had been sleeping and were woken by their detectors sounding and the home was filling with smoke. Upon arrival firefighters extinguished fire in a wall of the home. There was minor fire, smoke and water damage. No injuries were reported.
C.G.F.D. Training
On 11-5-2023 Cedar Grove Firefighter hosted a Electric Vehicle Fire Nozzles demonstration. Members evaluated two separate nozzles. The nozzle are specially designed to extinguish lithium battery cell fires in electric vehicles.
C.G.F.D. Training
On 10-25-2023 Cedar Grove hosted motor vehicle extrication training. The training was conducted by equipment manufacture Res-Q-Jack. Members trained lifting and stabilizing over turned vehicles.
C.G.F.D. Responded Mutual Aid to So. Orange
On 10-8-2023 Cedar Grove Firefighter responded to So. Orange to provided coverage while they handled a general alarm fire.
C.G.F.D. Responds Mutual Aid to Nutley
On 10-09-2023 Cedar Grove Firefighters responded to Nutley to provide coverage while Nutley Firefighters handled a general alarm fire at Nutley Lincoln Elementary School.
CGFD Responds Mutual Aid to Caldwell
On September 29th 2023 Cedar Grove Firefighters assisted Caldwell Firefighters at the scene of a house fire.
Stolen Car Fire
On August 22nd 2023 at 0118 hours Cedar Grove Firefighters extinguished a reported stolen car burning in the Normal Ave Mills Reservation Parking Lot.
CGFD Attends Newark Fire Dept. Funerals
Cedar Grove Firefighters along with hundreds of people turned out for the funerals of Newark Firefighters Wayne “Bear” Brooks Jr. and Augusto “Augie” Acabou. The two firefighters were killed after they were trapped in a July 5th fire aboard the Grand Costa D’Avorio, a cargo ship carrying vehicles that was docked in Port Newark. Our hope and prayers are with the families of the firefighters and the members of the Newark Fire Dept.
