CGFD Conducts Rope Training
March 5th 2024 members of the Cedar Grove Fire Department receive training on rope rescue from Cory Keepers of RPI Training
C.G.F.D. Training
On 11-5-2023 Cedar Grove Firefighter hosted a Electric Vehicle Fire Nozzles demonstration. Members evaluated two separate nozzles. The nozzle are specially designed to extinguish lithium battery cell fires in electric vehicles.
C.G.F.D. Training
On 10-25-2023 Cedar Grove hosted motor vehicle extrication training. The training was conducted by equipment manufacture Res-Q-Jack. Members trained lifting and stabilizing over turned vehicles.
New Firefighter Training
Probationary Firefighters Kyle Hill and Joseph Lombardi receive their initial firefighter training at the Passaic County Public Safety Academy. The course is a 200-hour introductory level progressive program. This level of training introduces the novice firefighter to the basics of nationally recognized firefighting techniques. Methods of instruction will include classroom theory, at-home online learning, as well as skill oriented “hands on” drill sessions.
The course meets the performance objectives of the N.F.P.A. standard 1001 and N.J.A.C. 5:73 4.3 standard, which will allow a firefighter to perform firefighting under direct supervision. All students will receive ICS 100, 200, NIMS 700, Right to Know and Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operational Levels of training as required by N.J.A.C. 5:75-6.1. Students will receive IFSAC and ProBoard Certification upon completion of all classes and sessions.
CGFD Conducts Extrication Training
On February 19th 2023 firefighters conducted their monthly drill at the public works garage. Members extricated an simulated victim from a large dump truck. Training foam was also flowed to suppress flammable vapors from a simulated fuel spill while the victim was removed.
CGFD Updates Extrication Tools
Cedar Fire Department transitions to battery powered vehicle extrication tools. Dept. members received manufacture training with the tools.
